Fashion is an ever-evolving journey, and sometimes, the best statement pieces are already in your closet—or waiting to be discovered at your local thrift store. Last week, I shared a bold, fashion-forward look that sparked quite a few conversations on social media. From the thrifted green blazer to my creative twist on leopard wide-leg pants, this outfit was a testament to the power of personal style and a reminder that you don’t have to break the bank to look amazing.
Growing up, I was a huge fan of What Not to Wear on TLC. Stacy London and Clinton Kelly were my first real introduction to the idea that styling is so much more than just putting on clothes—it’s about intention, confidence, and knowing how to highlight what makes you feel your best. Their lessons on fit, proportion, and versatility shaped how I see fashion today, and this look is a perfect example of that mindset in action.

The Outfit Breakdown:
Green Blazer with Gold Buttons – A thrift store treasure that instantly elevates any outfit. Structured blazers are a must-have because they add polish and versatility.
Leopard Wide-Leg Pants Turned Balloon Pants – Originally loose and flowing, I transformed them by lacing my strappy lace-up black sandals around the bottom to create a balloon-pant effect (MC Hammer vibes, anyone?).
"In My Healing Era" Tee – A personal favorite from The Audacity to Heal merch collection, perfect for adding a touch of personal empowerment to any outfit.
Green NY Yankees Fitted Cap – A casual yet stylish addition that ties the look together while keeping things effortlessly cool.
Red Crossbody Purse – A pop of color from Walmart that brought in just the right amount of contrast.
Strappy Lace-up Black Sandals – The key element in giving the pants their unexpected, fashion-forward shape.
Restyling What You Already Own
One of my favorite things about fashion is the ability to remix and reinvent pieces you already have. Stacy and Clinton always emphasized the importance of making your wardrobe work for you—and that’s a mindset I carry into my styling choices. Before you head out to buy something new, take a second look at your wardrobe. Ask yourself:
Can I layer this in a new way?
Can I add accessories to change the look?
Can I tailor or alter it for a fresh feel?

For this look, the biggest transformation came from how I styled the pants. If you have a pair of wide-leg pants, try lacing sandals around the bottom or even adding elastic bands inside to create volume. A simple tweak can completely change the silhouette!
Venturing Into Thrift Shopping
Thrifting is one of the best ways to curate a wardrobe full of unique, high-quality pieces without spending a fortune. If you're new to thrifting, here are a few tips:
Look for timeless pieces. Blazers, denim jackets, and classic button-ups never go out of style.
Try on everything! Sizing varies across brands, especially with vintage items.
Think outside the box. Just because something doesn’t fit exactly right doesn’t mean it can’t be styled in a way that works for you.
